Change of Dutch customs declaration system

DMS (Customs Declarations Management System) will be the new system of Dutch Customs. Declarations must be made on the new system latest from 1 July 2023 and can be used starting from October 2022. The changes with the introduction of the new system follow the requirements of the amended version of Annex B to the Union Customs Code.

Companies submitting declarations would need to follow a different declaration process and are required to update their customs software in order to submit declarations according to a new required dataset. With DMS, declarants would need to make corrections to the entries themselves if an incorrect element of the customs entry has been notified by Dutch Customs. It is recommended that companies also adjust there processes and procedures to meet the new requirements.
